HILO, HAWAII, HAWAII ISLANDS

WOW today has been a full day. Started off on our shore excursion and first went to the macadamia farm, where Monte had to have ice cream. We also bought some nuts, but will probably not make it home with them.

This is what we found on our way to the Volcanoes National Park. Glad we are not paying for the gas. We had a great bus driver, as he talked the whole trip and told lots of tidbits of the island. Hawaii is the largest and the youngest. The smoke coming up from the volcanoe is called bog. Air conditiones closed the area 15 minutes before we got there, opened up as we got there and closed about 10 minutes after we left. This is also the wettest island, but no rain today - only sunshine for us.

They say you never know when the earth will open up and you fall through or steam rises up.

We then went to a lava tube and walked through it. Had to walk around water puddles, but made it through okay.

When we got back to the ship, we watched Monday night football, only it was 2:00 p.m. When the game was over, we headed to watch the dancers and singers and had a show of music through the years. They are a talented group. Then to the other end of the ship for a show from a group called Walk Like A Man. Quartet of men singing songs from the 60's and 70's of male quartets. They talked like they were from Jersey and were great.

So we hope all had a Happy Halloween. Know my post is showing the wrong date. Changed the timezone on the computer, but did not help.

Soooo, until tomorrow
